Paradigm Shift…
For a long time now, I’ve felt like I needed to post something online everyday. So many popular people tell us that you need to be posting many times a day if you want to be successful. I understand this strategy. I am just a bit tired.
I’ve been doing this for a long time now. I know that the more I post, the more exposure I get. But after a while I have to say, ‘is it really working for me?’
If you look at my YouTube channel, you’ll see I’ve had it for a long time now, and I’ve posted over 2,000 videos. I’m close to the 1,000 subscriber threshold that YouTube requires to get paid, but the second part of that, the 4,000 Watch Hours, is the area I’m seriously lacking. So, what are my options? Make more long format videos, with better quality? Yes. But that takes time.
I’ve grown this channel mostly off of YT Shorts, but none of them went “viral”, so to speak. I know that when I post something, most of my audience is coming from YT Shorts, and when I post a long form version of the same video, it get way less views.
Then, I stopped, and thought of what I’m actually doing. Do I want to become a “Social Media Influencer” who makes content, or a musician who gets paid from dropping music on all platforms? I’ve been trying to do both, and it’s not working for either.
I started to slow down on just posting daily. I would rather post when I feel like it. I know it’s not a good strategy, but it feels better. Now I post my music more, with videos planned for everything I put on streaming services.
We’ll see how things work out, but I can say right now that I much rather do it this way. I still like to post stuff online all the time, but I want to be smarter about it. This website is a main example. I would normally post something like this on Facebook, but since I have this website, I will post it here, and send traffic from Facebook to my website, for people who want to read what I have to write.
Anyway, that’s all I have to say for now. Talk to y’all later…
